Three straps, three sides of the Purist: Toni Brodführer shows how French-style cowhide, Alcantara and Novonappa transform the character of the DUG Glashütte Purist Type 2 in Moon White.

I founded Deutsche Uhrenmanufaktur Glashütte (DUG) to make Glashütte’s renowned watchmaking tradition accessible and affordable to more people. That is why our first model, the Purist, was designed as a watch that can handle everyday life—from the office to leisure time.

The Purist is delivered on a substantial buffalo-leather strap. It suits the Glashütte style, which has always leaned towards solidity. But this versatile watch is especially enjoyable when paired with distinctive straps for different occasions.

French Style “9 to 5”: the Elegant Side

If you want to emphasise the Purist’s elegant side, I recommend the black French-style strap. It is considerably slimmer and tapers elegantly. Its embossed grain also echoes the granular texture of the dial. Yet it remains every bit as practical as the Purist: the embossing gives it better protection against moisture.

Alcantara “It’s a Boy”: Beach Vibes at the Office

What I like so much about the Moon White Purist is its versatility. In summer, I prefer to wear it on the ice-blue Alcantara strap. Together with the white dial, it brings beach vibes even to the office. Alcantara is robust enough to handle the occasional splash of water. And because the underside is Alcantara too, perspiration is no problem.

Novonappa “9 to 5”: Ready for the Wedding

Many younger DUG customers tell me that they buy their Purist for a defining moment in their lives: their wedding. For that occasion, only the best will do. The refined Novonappa strap, with its exceptionally fine saddle stitching, is more than a match for highly polished Oxford shoes—even with a silk bow tie and cummerbund.
