Dr. Knud Andresen explores three sides of the Glashütte Original PanoReserve: bold with orange French Style, relaxed with greige Alcantara® and classic with black Cordovan.
With its distinctive dial layout, the Glashütte Original PanoReserve has long been a modern classic. True to its Glashütte roots, it looks rather restrained from the front: beautifully proportioned displays and the characteristic Panorama Date, with both date discs sitting perfectly on the same level. The party happens on the back. Here you find the hand-engraved balance bridge and duplex swan-neck fine adjustment. Not just one swan neck, but two! That is where the passion shines through.
In this StrapGuide, we explore combinations that bring out both sides of the Glashütte Original: its distinguished authority, but also its appetite for a party.
1. French Style Cowhide “Ecstasy”: the other side of Glashütte Original
Who would have thought it? This usually reserved Glashütte Original has another side. The rich orange of French Style Cowhide “Ecstasy” in 20 mm makes the blued hands shine through complementary contrast. It brings a different side of the PanoReserve to life.
This watch is not just a statement of German watchmaking, but of Glashütte design, too. You will not find anything quite like it elsewhere – and there is no reason to hide that. With this strap, the Glashütte Original becomes a talking piece and shows off its charms.

2. Alcantara® “Like a Million Bucks”: sprezzatura for Glashütte
With its silver dial and clear typography, this Glashütte Original has all the makings of an elegant Italian look. All it takes is swapping the stiff black alligator strap for Alcantara® “Like a Million Bucks” in 20 mm: velvety soft and in a light shade of greige.
This not only puts the dial more firmly in focus, but also brings a little sprezzatura to Glashütte. Naturally, it remains thoroughly practical. All our Alcantara® straps are made with the same soft yet robust Alcantara® on the underside and feature fully turned-edge construction. For regular care, the surface can be gently wiped with a slightly damp white cotton cloth. In the end, that is rather German after all.
Light greige and a velvety texture give the silver dial room to breathe.
3. Cordovan “9 to 5”: distinguished authority
To emphasise the more restrained side of the Glashütte Original, Cordovan “9 to 5” in 20 mm is ideal. The subtle sheen of the black horsehide complements the dial, rather than competing for attention like a strongly patterned alligator strap. Its padding suits the substantial proportions of the PanoReserve.
The meticulously hand-sewn saddle stitching reflects the craftsmanship of the movement’s Glashütte hand-finishing. Just like the watch, the strap will develop its own character over time: it is made from a particularly fine leather with an elaborate tanning process. Cordovan, of course.
